A team of 10 students from the University of Nevada, Reno received a silver medal at the International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition (iGem) in November for their work on plant biosensors.
The event is the premiere undergraduate synthetic biology competition and this is the second team from Nevada to participate in the 6-year-old competition, which includes schools, such as Harvard, Stanford, MIT and UC-Berkeley.
