Test and measurement giant Agilent Technologies Inc has announced plans to acquire specific assets of privately held A2 Technologies, including substantially all of the Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) company's intellectual property, technology, employees, and its spectroscopy product portfolio.
Fourier transform spectroscopy -- a measurement technique where spectra are collected based on measurements of the coherence of a radiative source, using time-domain or space-domain measurements of radiation -- can be applied to a variety of spectroscopy types. In its case, Danbury, Conn-based A2 designs, develops, and manufactures FT-IR spectrometers for routine analysis and out-of-lab applications in the petrochemical, environmental, aerospace, art conservation, academia, and geosciences markets.
