Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology receives Queen’s Award

Lord Lieutenant of Somerset, Lady Elizabeth Gass visited North Somerset based company Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology this week to present its Queen’s Award for Enterprise. Top of Form

The manufacturer of high performance capital equipment for the semiconductor industry received the award for International Trade, for more than doubling overseas earnings over six years of sustained growth, and exporting over 90% of production. This outstanding performance was based on the Company’s comprehensive product range addressing a wide spread of markets combined with an aggressive strategy of developing new markets, primarily in Asia. This is the 3rd time the company has been honoured in the Queen’s Awards.

Following a short presentation, the Lord Lieutenant toured Oxford Instruments’ manufacturing plant, research laboratories and offices in Yatton, North Somerset, and was accompanied by Mr John Cullum, High Sherriff of Somerset, and Mr Graham Turner, Chief Executive of North Somerset Council.

“It was an honour to welcome the Lord Lieutenant and other dignitaries to our facility again”, said Andy Matthews, Managing Director of Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology, “We were able to demonstrate our technology, and show the extensive improvements and growth in both facilities and workforce that have taken place recently. This award for International Trade recognises the hard work and commitment of the entire team at Oxford Instruments, and I was delighted to receive it on their behalf.
